When a couple who has children gets divorced, they will have to face the concept of child support. Under Domestic Relations Law, s. 240(1b) and the Family Court Act s. 413(1)(b), known as the Child Support Standards Act (“CSSA”) the court shall calculate the “basic child support obligation”, and the non-custodial parent’s prorated share of the “basic child support obligation”.
