Leeds Morelli & Brown P.C. Strike a Blow Against Gender Discrimination

November 22nd, 2008 by Leeds Morelli & Brown

Law Firm Blog -1 Million Dollar Plus Verdict

Who watchers the watchers?  That’s the question that three former Nassau County Police Detectives faced as they suffered through years of gender based discrimination while working for the Nassau County Police Department.  For Pamela Olsen, Deirdre Ketchum, and Noreen Cribbin the answer was the law firm of Leeds Morelli & Brown P.C.  Leeds Morelli & Brown attorneys Rick Ostrove and Tom Ricotta fought hard during a six week trial on behalf of the plaintiffs.  A federal jury awarded the three women one million ($1,000,000) dollars in damages http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z60xJobzGA

Gender is a protected class under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. EEOC: www.eeoc.gov/policy/vii.html  New York State Law also offers its own protections against employment discrimination based on gender.  There is no excuse for gender discrimination, and victims should not simply accept it as part of doing business.  Men and women have equal rights in the workplace and nobody, not even police officers, have the right to subject people to discrimination based on gender.  Employers need to inform their employees of their rights.  In addition, employers should have some method of reporting and combating abuses.

This is just the latest example of the good work the attorneys of the Law Firm of Leeds Morelli & Brown P.C. do on behalf of their clients.  Leeds Morelli and Brown lawyers have experience in employment discrimination actions based on gender, race, and many other protected classes.  For a free consultation and any questions, contact an attorney at Leeds Morelli & Brown P.C. law firm for a free consultation at 1-888-556-2529.
