Christie Brinkley Fights Back Against Her Ex-Husband

Divorce Blog Christie Brinkley is fighting back against her ex-husband, Peter Cook, claiming that his recent interview with Barbara Walters on “20/20” violated the terms of their divorce.  Peter Cook sat down with Barbara Walters in an effort to set the record straight after the media aired the sordid details of the couple’s break-up during their nasty divorce.  Cook, who during the trial admitted to having an affair with his then 18-year-old assistant,  told Barbara Walters he hoped the world will see that he is not the scumbag pervert that he has been painted to be.  Brinkley filed for a restraining order after hearing that Cook had conducted the interview.  The judge denied her request.  In a statement released from her attorney, Brinkley claimed that Cook breached the confidentiality agreement in the divorce settlement.

Confidentiality agreements are common in high-profile divorce settlements.  Mainstream media relishes in airing the dirty laundry of celebrities.  In order to prevent the media from uncovering the details of a divorce settlement, many celebrities enter into a confidentiality agreement that prevents either spouse from discussing the case.  Confidentiality agreements are becoming more common in divorce settlements in Nassau and Suffolk counties, as well as Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island.  Former spouses enter into such an agreement to stop their divorce from turning into town gossip.

The attorneys at Leeds, Morelli & Brown, P.C. understand that getting a divorce is a private matter and people prefer to keep the details of their divorce confidential.  The law firm of Leeds, Morelli & Brown, P.C. has represented clients in Nassau and Suffolk counties, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island.  For any questions concerning divorce or other domestic relations matters, contact an attorney at the Leeds Morelli & Brown P.C. law firm for a free consultation at 1-800-585-4658.
