Leeds Morelli & Brown recognizes that sexual harassment is a continuing problem in the workplace. Leeds Morelli & Brown has represented countless clients with their sexual harassment claims. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII provides in part that it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against any individual because of such individual’s sex. (42 U.S.C. section 2000e-2). Oftentimes, sexual harassment creates a hostile work environment. The main focus in such a determination is if the conduct was unwelcome and sufficiently severe or pervasive to create an abusive working environment.

Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish inoffensive joking from offensive joking that may be perceived as sexual harassment. Leeds Morelli & Brown wants to educate both men and women of their rights in the work place and the seriousness of sexual harassment. Leeds Morelli & Brown believes that when people are educated about the law and know their rights, they are more likely to avoid certain behaviors and/or report certain conduct before it gets exacerbates. At Leeds Morelli & Brown we cannot stress enough that sexual harassment should not be tolerated by anyone at anytime. Leeds Morelli & Brown urges employers to properly educate management and employees on sexual harassment. Sexual harassment should be stopped at the first sign in order to prevent exacerbation of the conditions. Leeds Morelli & Brown fights hard to curb sexual harassment and recover monetary damages to help compensate our clients and deter others from committing such acts.

Lees Morelli & Brown deals with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) regarding our clients’ claims. The EEOC is a government agency that enforces employment discrimination laws. In 2007, there were 12,510 charges filed with the EEOC. Of the charges filed, 93% were successfully resolved, receiving approximately 50 million dollars in monetary benefits. Go to The EEOC site on sexual harassment charges.

At Leeds Morelli & Brown we educate our clients on the proper procedures for filing a claim with the EEOC for sexual harassment and also give our clients advice on how to handle their situation appropriately until a claim has been filed. At Leeds Morelli & Brown, we strive to ensure the safety of our clients and help our clients manage a stressful situation.
